Partial study programme Educational Sciences in the B. Ed. - Teaching degree at primary schools
The Educational Sciences component of the B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) – Primary School Teaching degree consists of five modules. These modules include various course types (lectures, seminars, and tutorials) as well as internships (Introductory & Orientation Internship and Professional Field Internship).
While these modules are theoretically structured to build upon one another, they do not strictly have to be completed in the order listed. However, we recommend following the chronological sequence provided (see table).
Exemplary study plan for Educational Sciences (partial degree programme) in the B. Ed. primary schools
The forms of teaching and learning are always participative, action-orientated, application-oriented, empirically based and with a strong reference to discourse. Lectures usually teach the basics, which are then deepened in the seminars and tutorials.

Note:
The module handbook recommends for G-Bil3 that you first take component a (lecture) and then component b (specialisation) and then take the oral examination. Both components a and b are offered every semester. In the seminar, a topic from the lecture is dealt with in depth. It is also possible to take the oral examination in each semester. Module component c can only be completed in full in the summer semester.
In addition to the recommendation, it may make sense for you to take a and b at the same time within one semester and take the oral examination immediately afterwards. For the oral examination, you will choose an in-depth topic on which you will give a 10-minute presentation. Afterwards, we will briefly discuss this topic and then address other topics from the lecture.

Final module examination
- see module description
As part of the Bachelor's thesis, you will work independently on a scientific topic and present the results in the thesis. You will be supported by professors and staff at the Institute of Educational Research. The lecturers will help you find a topic.
The topic of the Bachelor's thesis will be discussed with the examiner. As a rule, the topics are based on the examiners' research projects and specialisations. The professors and staff of the departments are available as examiners. Detailed information on research, projects and theses can be found on the corresponding pages:
As a rule, a Bachelor's thesis in the B.Ed. - Primary School Teacher Training sub-degree programme is written on an empirical project. This includes, among other things
- independent literature research including the summarisation of empirical findings
- qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis (e.g. correlations, t-test, qualitative summarised content analysis)
- writing the term paper along the scientific discovery process (cf. Peters & Dörfler)
