Welcome to the GEBF 2027 website!
Rapid transformations and complex challenges are shaping our society and are also having an impact on educational processes and their framework conditions. Through its 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined therein, the UN has outlined how sustainable development can be shaped and ensured on social, economic, and environmental levels. Examples of SDGs include:
- Good Health and Well-being
- Quality Education
- Climate Action
- Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions
Building on the SDGs, the GEBF 2027 in Wuppertal will focus on how interdisciplinary empirical educational research can contribute to the design and further development of sustainable educational processes. The focus is on interdisciplinary exchange, which is of particular importance given the complexity of current transformation processes. The goal of the conference is to discuss and synthesize current interdisciplinary empirical findings and methodological approaches.
The GEBF 2027 is therefore held under the theme “Sustainable Education—What Contribution Can Interdisciplinary Empirical Educational Research Make?” As always at the GEBF, contributions that are not directly related to the conference theme are also welcome.
The 14th Congress of the Society for Empirical Educational Research will take place March 15–17, 2027, at the University of Wuppertal, and the Early Career Congress will be held March 17–18, 2027.
We look forward to welcoming you to Wuppertal and, in particular, to a lively and interdisciplinary exchange that will have a lasting impact.
Registration
Registration for the congress has been open since Tuesday, 8 December 2026, provided you have received positive feedback on your submission. Please register as a participant via ConfTool. The Early Bird rate is valid until 6 February 2027, after that the regular prices apply.
We are very pleased about the great interest in the congress. For space reasons, however, places are limited. We therefore strongly recommend that you register as early as possible. As a presenting author in particular, you must have registered by 15 January 2027 , as the programme will be published afterwards and we need to ensure that the announced contributions actually take place.
Places are also limited for the social evening. Please register for this by 20 January 2027.
