12th International Conference on Inclusion
The 12th International Conference on Inclusion took place from 10 July to 12 July at the University of Wuppertal. Over the course of three days, 50 academics from Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK and the USA came together to address current challenges in the international implementation of inclusion in education and society, to further develop concepts of inclusive education and to initiate and further develop international research projects.
Unlike traditional conferences, the Conference on Inclusion does not revolve around the presentation of completed research results - the focus was on collaborative project development in so-called Special Interest Groups. These working groups were dedicated to specific areas of inclusion, such as the implementation of trauma-sensitive concepts in schools, the detention of young people or learning disorders and challenging behaviour in secondary schools.
The Conference on Inclusion itself is a cooperation project between Professor Dr Friedrich Linderkamp (BUW) and Professor Dr Michael Krezmien (University of Massachusetts, Amherst) and has been held annually for 12 years, alternating between BUW and the USA.
