Scientific work at the IfB

Dear Students,

Here you will find information about the support services for academic writing at the Institute for Educational Research. Our services include workshops, self-study resources, individual consultations via email and Zoom, as well as various materials and references.

In the Moodle course, you will find resources for self-study. Several times a semester, introductory Zoom workshops are offered where you can also have your questions answered. You can register for these sessions yourself via a Moodle survey. The current workshop dates are shown on the following poster. To stay informed about upcoming dates, please join the Moodle course.

Individual counselling (consultation hours)

Individual Consultation

For specific content-related questions, we offer individual consultations upon request. Initially, we will attempt to answer your questions via email; if necessary, we can then arrange a consultation via Zoom.

To help us process your request efficiently, please follow these guidelines:

  • Subject Line: Please categorize your request in the subject line using one of the following topics: Reading, Writing, Quantitative, or Qualitative.

  • Specificity: Formulate your questions as specifically as possible.

  • Background Information: Provide detailed background information regarding your research, including at least:

    • Research question and hypothesis/hypotheses.

    • Supervisor's name and project title (if applicable).

    • Study design (qualitative/quantitative), variables (independent and dependent), their scales of measurement, or qualitative analysis methods.

    • Previous attempts: What solutions have you already tried, and where specifically do you need assistance?

Organizational Questions: For organizational questions regarding Moodle workshops, etc., please post them directly in the corresponding Moodle forum.
