Partial study programme Special Education in the B. Ed. - Special Educational Support

In addition to the modules for the internships (EOP and BP), the Special Needs Education sub-degree programme in the B. Ed. - Special Needs Education consists of six modules (SPF1 to SPF6). If you study one module per semester, you can complete the sub-degree programme within the standard period of study. The modules can be taken in the traditional way (SPF1 in the 1st semester, SPF2 in the 2nd semester, ...) or adapted to personal interests or individual study plans.

The modules build on each other thematically by first focussing on the general basics of inclusive special education, then on specific basics of inclusive special education and the main areas of support, and then on special areas of support. The module names and also the component names reflect this consecutive structure. The modules are organised in such a way that knowledge is broadened in the lectures and this knowledge is deepened and applied in the associated seminars.

The forms of teaching and learning are always participative, action-orientated, application-oriented, empirically based and with a strong reference to discourse. Almost all courses on the Special Needs Education B.Ed. degree programme are evaluated every semester. The results of the evaluation are discussed with the students in the courses. The feedback is used to continuously improve the courses and examinations.

Supervisors and topics

The topic of the Bachelor's thesis is discussed with the examiner. As a rule, the topics are based on the examiners' research projects and specialisations. The professors and staff of the departments are available as examiners. Detailed information on research, projects and theses can be found on the pages of the departments.

Type and requirements

As a rule, Bachelor's theses in the special education sub-degree programme are written on an empirical project. This includes, among other things

  • independent literature research including the summarisation of empirical findings
  • qualitative and/or quantitative data collection and analysis (e.g. correlations, t-test, qualitative summarised content analysis)
  • writing the term paper along the scientific discovery process (cf. Peters & Dörfler)

The relevant knowledge - also in relation to the programmes (e.g. JASP or MAXQDA) - is assumed.
