Institut für Bildungsforschung (IfB)

GSE Initiative Fund | Contact: Igor Osipov & Matthias Herrle
With the GSE Initiative Fund, the Graduate School of Education (GSE) supports self-organised projects by its doctoral students that serve to promote academic qualification, collaboration, networking or professional exchange. The aim of the fund is to promote personal initiative, strengthen participative structures within the Graduate School and enable flexible project-related opportunity structures. Information on the programme and the application form can be downloaded here.
Please note the application deadlines listed there.

GSE-Peer2Peer | Contact persons: Nina Jansen & Janine Schledjewski

We help each other with problems in everyday working life. The following options are available for this purpose:

  1. Anyone can signal a need for collegial case counselling. How can we deal with conflicts of a certain kind? How would other doctoral students behave in a certain situation? Etc. You can find our agreed rules here in the Moodle course. If you would like Nina Jansen and/or Janine Schledjewski to act as moderator(s), please arrange an appointment with them. Then simply send the appointment via the doctoral students' mailing list. Anyone can also ask Nina Jansen and/or Janine Schledjewski to submit a case in anonymised form to a collegial case consultation.
  2. Anyone can contact Nina Jansen and/or Janine Schledjewski to find possible "suitable" dialogue partners for an exchange. For example, who is familiar with publication-orientated dissertations? Who has experience with parental leave during the doctoral phase? Etc. So just get in touch if you need to talk but don't know who can help you!
  3. Anyone can approach colleagues independently and ask for collegial (case) counselling.

Consequently, no fixed dates for GSE-Peer2Peer are planned for the coming winter semester 2025/26, but we will respond flexibly and individually to your emerging needs. Simply get in touch with Nina Jansen or Janine Schledjewski.

GSE-Themes & Topics | Contact persons: Nina Jansen & Janine Schledjewski

We offer needs-orientated and flexible meetings on topics that are relevant to you as a junior researcher during the qualification phase. For example, "How do I find a (good) topic?", "How do I manage to make progress with my dissertation alongside all the other tasks?". We are always happy to receive your ideas and topics. We will then prepare short workshops on desired topics - ourselves or in cooperation with experts from the institute - and inform you about upcoming date options in the Mittelbau meetings and via the GSE Moodle course. If you are interested, simply contact Nina Jansen or Janine Schledjewski.

Doctoral Candidates Plus regulars' table | Contact persons: Janina Dickert & Jacqueline Zielke

All doctoral students at the IfB - and anyone who feels addressed (including those who have already completed their doctorate) - are cordially invited to chat, drink, snack, etc. in a relaxed atmosphere.

We will start again on 15 October 2025 at 5 pm in the university pub on the Grifflenberg campus.

Since it worked so well last semester, we will once again coordinate the other meetings flexibly in our WhatsApp group - there we will decide together whether we meet on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. With the move to the Bubadi, we could also think about a change of location together. For the group link, simply contact Janina(dickert[at]uni-wuppertal.de) or Jacqueline(jzielke@uni-wuppertal.de).

No meeting is obligatory - come along whenever it suits you - we look forward to seeing you!
